Glacier Twist-Link Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2021 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Glacier chain snow tire chains with cam tensioners here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Now this here is going to be a ladder pattern style chain which means that the chains are going perpendicular across the tire like this and it's gonna be really nice for our starts and stops, give us nice grip, it won't be as smooth of a ride, but we're focused on getting good traction, not necessarily perfect ride quality. You also have the twist links here, which compared to something like a square link or especially a V-Bar, is gonna be better for on-road use, less aggressive, and give you a bit of a smoother ride. Again, it's not gonna be perfect, you've got a chain on your tire but it will help with some of that ride quality. These are constructed of a low-carbon steel which means they are gonna be a bit softer which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you we're to roll over something like a rock, they're less brittle, less prone to snapping and breaking, so they should last a long time. You are gonna notice four of these cam tensioners around the tire, comes with the included tool. more

Now we're gonna get a ladder-pattern style chain here, which is gonna give us really good traction for those starts and stops as well as this square shaped link. That's gonna be a little bit more aggressive than our typical twist link or a cable-style chain, but not quite as intense as a V-bar style. I like the square link, I think it's a really good middle ground and it's gonna give you some good traction in those tricky situations. Overall, there's a manganese nickel alloy construction keeping things nice and corrosion resistant over time. more

Pewag All Square Tire Chains Installation - 2021 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Pewag Mud Service All-Square snow tire chains here on our 2021 Toyota 4-Runner. Now these are gonna be a ladder pattern style chain, which means these links are going to run perpendicular to the tire, like the shape of a ladder. It's gonna give us really good traction for our starts and stops and with a nice square shaped link, we're gonna get a lot of bite in those links, as opposed to something like a twist link, or even a cable that would be much more mild, better for on-road use and just light duty applications, but they don't give you the same level of traction that something like this might have. You are gonna have a nickel-manganese alloy steel construction, so these will be holding up to those elements pretty well over time and help them last for a long time. On the front, we have this lever arm that feeds through the links, pulls back, and applies some tension to the chain, but we don't have any sort of included cam tighteners like some other chains might and like other options from Pewag have. So we have our rubber tensioner on here to get the chain really form fit to the tire, keep it on there nice and snug. more

Now, the big standout thing with these, is the self tensioning feature here. You've got a nice elastic band here that's pulling on this tensioner keeping the chains nice and tight around the tire. With that built in, it's really nice, really convenient and it's gonna make sure that these chains fit your tire really well. Hi, everyone. Aiden, here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna be taking a look at our Konig XB-16 snow tire chains here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. So, taking a look at the chain, we can see it's a diamond pattern as opposed to a ladder pattern style chain. That means it's gonna give us a somewhat smoother ride quality and be a little less bumpy. On the links themselves, we've got a dual sided D-link which as compared to something like a twist link is gonna give us a little bit more bite into that snow and ice, but not quite as much as something really aggressive, like a V-Bar style. It's a nice middle ground. more

Now, it has this latter pattern as well as the twist link design, which is gonna assist with effective starts and stops in the deep snow, but also be very effective in some ice situations as well.The twist links also limit the jarring that you many encounter when you're driving in the deep snow, as compared to the square link design on some other chains. These are very easy to install. You simply drape them over the tires and make your connections. This is the Pewag all square snow tire chains with cam tighteners. To begin our test fit, we'll go ahead and lay the chains out of the ground and make sure we get any kinks, knots, or tangles out of the chains themselves. With that done, we'll go ahead and drape out chains over the tire, making sure that our cross chains are centered on the tire tread. Now that we've made sure that our chains are centered, we'll work our way down to the inside of the tire here at the 6 o'clock position where we'll connect the 2 ends of the side chain together. Now you'll want to take up as much of the slack in the side chain as possible. We'll then move to the outside chain where we'll repeat the same process. Now with both side chains hooked together and as much of the slack out of the chains as possible, we'll work our way around the 3 cam tighteners on the tire here on the outside. more

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner with tire size 265/70-17 we'll be test fitting the Glacier Square-Link Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners, part number PWD2328SLC.To begin our test fit, we'll go ahead and set the chains on the ground, where we'll make sure we getany knots or kinks out of the chains themselves. This will ensure an easier and faster fit. We can nowdrape the chains over the tire, making sure that the cross chains are centered over the tire tread. Agood indicator of installing the chains correctly is making sure that the attachment point for thecross chains to the side chain hook faces out, as well as making sure that the cam tighteners are onthe outside of the tire. With that done, we'll move to the inside of the tire here at the six oclockposition and connect the two ends of the side chain together. You'll want to take as much of theslack out of the side chains as possible. more

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner well be test fitting the Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains, part number th04805267. Now, to begin our installation well go ahead and lay the chains out on the ground and make sure we get out any kinks or tangles that are within the chains themselves. This will insure an easier install and fit. Now, well be installing these chains on the tire size 265/70-17. Now that we have the chains laid out on the ground, well take the blue cable of the chain and pass it around the inside of the tire back to the outside here. Now, were installing these on the rear tire of our SUV. more
